Making space to create

One of the most important things to do when you want to write or do anything creative is to have the space to create. You need to give the processing time away from distractions, concerns, and the multitude of interruptions.

Some creatives talk about needing to feel inspired to create. I think that all of us can create the conditions to get into the flow state.

For some of us, it’s all about the right cup of tea, and a certain time of day, or time with a stack of not cards.

For a long time for me, it was a cup of chai, incense burning, the right music, and a fountain pen.

I tend to get most of my writing done with pen and paper.

I believe that a lot of times when creatives think they are blocked, part of the problem is that they aren’t giving themselves the space to create. I need space away from people (even though I’ve often enjoyed writing in a coffee shop).
