The Reset — Filmmaking, Screenwriting, and Creativity

I started writing about creativity and filmmaking about four years ago. That was after screenwriting and being on set for about ten years. I have wanted to share stories for a long time. I’ve written novels, short stories, plays, and feature length screenplays.

The Pivot

Three or four years ago I decided that I needed to turn my focus from making short films to developing and producing feature films. Some of the stories I want to tell wouldn’t be feasible in a short film. I’ve written a few short films scripts that truly speak to me and I would love to put them into production but I’ve decided that the budget I would need to make any one of those shorts would be better put towards producing a feature film.

The First Feature

A couple years ago I had the opportunity to make my first feature film. We didn’t have a budget, we didn’t have enough shooting days, and I’m still in post-production for that project.

The Creative Life During Quarantine

Since the shut down happened, I started to put more and more of my energy into screenwriting. I have always had my attention split between wanting to write the script and the desire to find a way to put the script into production.
